: Kenichi has a massive, unrequited crush on Yumeko. Most episodes involving them follow a pattern where Kenichi tries to impress her—often through Hattori's ninja skills—only for the plan to backfire or for Yumeko to get upset by his clumsiness. Despite this, Yumeko considers Kenichi a close friend and occasionally shows reciprocated feelings, such as going on private outings with him. In some versions of the franchise lore, it is suggested they eventually marry.
